Women are dangerous

As is a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout,
so also is a fair woman who is without discretion. Proverbs 11:22.
From a woman sin had its beginning,
and because of her we all die. Sirach 25:24

Dramatic story of Bible starts with the narration of Sin in the Eden. In fact it is unclear whether Adam was aware of the status of the fruit, that the fruit is prohibited by God, when he accept it from his partner Eve. The grief of humanity starts from a woman. There are many circuitous woman in Bible, but good woman are very few.

There is another beautiful story in Genesis. Jacob is escaping from his father- in-law’s house with his family and wealth. One of his wives Rachel stole her father’s Gods without the sanction of Jacob. So Laban, the girl’s father, followed them and caught them midway. marycoronation_velasquez_cropLaban searched all of Jacob’s tents and Rachel kept the idols in a camel’s saddle and sat upon it giving the excuse that she is pregnant and can’t stand before her father. “A daughter keeps her father secretly wakeful, and worry over her robs him of sleep”. Sirah 42:9. The deceiving nature of woman is explicitly narrated in Bible.

Judith’s story adds another dimension of woman’s nature. Even Judith killed Holofernes for a divine reason, she cheated someone who put his trust in her and who loves her deeply. “Do not be ensnared by a woman’s beauty, and do not desire a woman for her possessions”. Sirach 25:21.

Even in New Testament the attitude towards woman is not different. “It is well for a man not to touch a woman”. 1 Corinthians 7:1. “Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission”. 1 Corinthians 14:34.

Controversial to this entire picture there is another narration of an ideal woman in proverbs: 31. The qualities of this good woman are more interesting if we equate it with Mother Mary.

“She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.”

The coat for soul is interpreted as purity, as Mary with Immaculate Conception in her mother’s womb and absconded from any sin in her life.

“She is like the ships of the merchant, she brings her food from afar.”

In fact Virgin Mary brought the eternal Manna from the heaven.

“She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard”.

A field is nothing but a soul, and Jesus made it clear by saying “Behold , Your Mother” to John, lying on the cross. From thence she started to buy souls with his son’s blood as a precious price.

“She girds her loins with strength and makes her arms strong”.

Revelation draw the picture of Mary crushes the head of Devil under her feet.

“Her lamp does not go out at night”.

Mary treasured up everything, and pondering in heart. Luke 2:19. She not only gave birth to the Word but kept the Word all the time in her heart. Lamp is nothing but Word as per Psalms 119:105.” Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”

Thus all deceiving, crooked nature of woman including the Sin started in Eden evaporates in the presence of Mother Mary. She is the perfect, immaculate woman, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed”. Luke 1:42, 48.

Holy Virgin of virgins,
 pray for us.
Mother most pure,
 pray for us.
Mother most chaste,
 pray for us
Virgin most prudent,
 pray for us.
Seat of wisdom,
 pray for us.
Mystical rose,
 pray for us.
Tower of David,
 pray for us.
Tower of ivory,
 pray for us.
Morning star,
 pray for us.
Ark of the Covenant,
 pray for us.

  1. Paul’ s First Letter to the Corinthians is heavily biased against women. Paul never mentions even the Blessed Virgin Mary by name in any of his letters except that Christ was born of a woman. Why should a scholar of his ilk be so biased against women ? He should have gone against the current even during his times as he did on other occasions.
