We are all spending a lot of time before mirrors. We are very vigilant how we look like to others. It is important that what the people close to us will think about us. Are we considering them well? Are we spending time with our family? Do we really love our children?
One girl was hiring a taxi from a railway station to get to a cemetery. She is buying some flowers on the way. After a long journey she cover the tomb with flowers. I the return journey the taxi driver ask her who that dead man is for her. She is asking herself the question. He is the owner of her heart. Every relation needs an auditing. We have to ask ourselves who are our parents for us. Who is our partner for us? Who are our children for us? A self-audit is essential. Definition of relationships is necessary. What they bring to us, what they take away from us?
The scene is a beautiful evening; Caesarea Philippi is a beautiful place. There is the carpenter; a wanderer doing some ridicules teachings. There are the twelve poor people; most of them are uneducated fishermen. Thirteen nomads. The question is among them. We have to close our eyes and think who is this carpenter for us. What we learned from books won’t help us. What others teach us won’t help us. We need a personal judgment. Then only it will be organic. What we need for us to get that understanding? The physical media’s are not enough. Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. Matthew 16:17. So the Holy Spirit has to define our relationships.
Understanding a God is difficult unless God reveals himself. Meditation and pilgrimages are not enough. God revealed to Moses in a burning bush. But the bush was not consumed. God is a fire which lights everything, but unable to consume a feeble sprout. Can we light everyone around us without hurting anyone..? Peter kept a horizon in his heart. His statement was a reflection of it. He loved Jesus than the disciples. We need a glimpse of eternity in hour heart.
Jesus words are interesting: And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Rock mean gravity, a weightage to our soul. If we build our temple on it the soul will become a sacred place. Or relationships will become steps to heaven; we will open the doors of heaven. It is great thinking that the heaven’s key is in our hands. The keys of the world around us. We are deciding our relationships are in heaven or in Hades. We can open the doors for others, is it the most holy thing in this world..?
