It is hard to imagine the creation process of the entire universe was tiresome task for God. But God still spend six days to create everything. He showed keen interest in acute details of his creations and find himself everything good. When he created the man he was more careful and involved to make him in his image and in his likeness. He carefully created a haven for him with all kinds of trees in it. But God failed the first time in the game; Man was more interested in a serpent than in God and obeyed the serpent.
God lost the game again when Abel was killed. God created Adam and Eve to be fruitful, increase in number and fill the earth. Again his plan failed.
We can find many instances God’s plan fail in Bible. Even God was ready to surrender before man in a face-to-face combat. In Genesis 32:22-24 an angel wrestles with Jacob the entire night and surrender before the sunrise. A creator who surrender unconditionally before his creation.
God send several prophets to discuss his plan for the mankind but they killed all of them. At last he send his own son, his only son to fulfill his plan. It was not a victory saga in the beginning. The father and mother of Jesus forced to quit their place and run as asylum to get away from a ruler. Jesus failed totally in his life. No one understand what he is saying, no one understand what he is doing. In His own words: Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Luke 13:34. The worst feeling on earth is no one understands us. Even the disciples don’t understand him.
God win just before his death on the cross, on the cross, when the thief on his right side ask him the question, the question God wish to hear from the starting of the mankind. Allow me to be with you today in Paradise. The God won the first time.
We are always expecting winning. We are trying hard to win; we are planning well, preparing well and implement well to win. Not to win, but to defeat all others. We don’t like to lose against our children, against our partner, against our colleagues. Why we cant accept a self-goal? We are thinking the losers are to be cursed. We are not discussing the chances of defeat even to our children. We are seeking the next chance to win. So we need a bible for defeat. The idea of destination syndrome is interesting. A climber at the top of a mountain is feeling restless, he is seeing another summit and he have to climb all the way down to get to his home.
It is God’s behaviour to give up. We are praising someone who invited humility. So let us welcome the defeats, it is Christianity. The winner was homeless, lost his father when he was young, was an asylum seeker when he was a child. He left home when he is young; he never married, never had children, and died in between earth and sky. He didn’t have a tomb to remember. He was defeated on the cross, the people asked him to come down from the cross. Matthew 27:42.
So let us say as Paul said: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. He didn’t say I won the race. Let our races to be finished, not to be won.
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider
equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing by taking
the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. Philippians 2:6-7
