But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me,
it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck,
and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:6
Why our ideologies and theories are not helping us in our day to day life situations? Why our heavenly suggestions, which helped many to cross the angry river of life events never, help us?
Church bells help an entire village to reach church in time. It never sleeps and never forget to do its work. But always the bells are outside the church, it never enter into the church, never attend the services. Peoples are entering into places which we guide them, peoples are listening to our teachings thankfully, but we are like the church bells.
It is a good idea that the candles are for others. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. Mathew 5:15. But is there any meaning if we are not getting time to meditate any of these valuable theories. The philosophy that we are living for others remains one question: for whom are others? I think everyone needs to give light to self first. our own self need to be enlightened first. That is why Jesus said: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31. We can’t use separate measurement for others and us. That is why Paul said: Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 1Corinthians 9:16. If I didn’t preach the curse is on me not on the environment.
Everyone needs to face an aspect of social audit. Father of children has a duty to show good examples to them. A priest should be careful in his behaviour. We will be able to say as Jesus said: Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29.
John the Baptist was from desert. The very rough and dry conditions caused him to design his preaching, which also, was very tuff. He was expecting a Christ with an axe and winnowing fork. That is why he stumble when he get to the prison. Jesus was revealed to him very clearly during the baptism of Jesus. Then why he stumble at one point? So we stumble because we don’t understand real Jesus. He was a too old wineskin to accept the new wine, Jesus.
We need to understand Jesus differently. We need to enter into instead of remaining outside like a church bell does. Otherwise he won’t recognise us in spite of our prophesies and miracles in his name: ‘Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Matthew 7:22.
