Spiritual Enlightenment.

If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because
it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him;
for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me:
because I live, ye shall live also.At that day ye shall
know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
John 14:15-21.

The obligation of love

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

The restrictions are always irritating, but it is an essential for adequate safety. A seatbelt may be restricting the movement by binding our shoulders.  Sometimes the restrictions are to observe where we are and which way to proceed. There is a warning (amber) , a control (red) in a traffic light. The commandments are also in a similar mode. It is frustrating, but the enjoyment of easy ride in eternal path without any accidents is worthy. And Jesus’ demand is interesting; the obedience should come from love. Love is constraining, it is narrowing our sight to the one we love, it is converging the thoughts to one we longing and it is implementing to gain the one we love. In other words the commandments will come into place spontaneously if there is love.  That is why Jesus demands the obedience on love itself.

A distinction for disciples

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him.

Knowing the God is the ultimate realisation of soul. The desire to taste God is there in every soul from the very beginning. The soul is seeking all the time a spiritual encounter with God; the same one Adam and Eve enjoyed in Paradise.  But we have to break the barriers- the five sensory faculties- Sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. When Jesus asks Thomas to see his wounds anImaged place his hand on his side he is inviting him to accomplish the sensual satisfaction of Soul. When the 5000 men ate and satisfied with 5 pieces of bread Jesus (Matthew 14:13- 21) was fulfilling the same desires of soul. That is why Jesus allows a prostitute to wash and kiss his feet (John 12:3). Then the barriers will transform as mediums in experiencing God.

The creation and formation of each soul is to accomplish this ‘philia’. That is why the World will not receive the Spirit of truth.

The vanishing state of soul

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

In search of the desires the soul will vanish for a while from the world. The soul should shut in a chamber; an inactiveness of the senses. But still the soul feels the God because He lives so that the soul should also live.  That is why Jesus teaches: ‘But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.’ Matthew 6:6. This is a  cloudiness as described in Mark 9:2-8. “A cloud came, overshadowing them and a voice came out of the cloud, and said “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.”  The vanishing stage will be painful for soul but the soul will be ready to progress because of its desire to unite with God.

And this is where we have to distinguish the enlightenment from prayer and from other types of practices like meditation, yoga etc. Enlightenment by engaging in a mental exercise is unnecessary and in many occasions is a departing from the unity with God. The spiritual enlightenment should be a pure gift from God without any exercise of soul. At that point the role of soul is to enjoy and tender. Soul should practice the path but the reward is a pure gift.

ImageA soul engaging in God will realise what the world is not recognising. Somewhat St. Paul describes as third heaven in II Corinthians 12:2-6.  Thus the perspective of a soul and the world will be different. The soul understands that Jesus is living, and Jesus is in the soul. That is the unity the soul is seeking from the beginning – ‘At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. The same state St. Paul narrate : “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” Galatians 2:20. And in 2 Timothy 1:14: “Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”

Ultimately this is the fulfilment of the ‘philia’.

  1. Sheep are utterly dependent upon the shepherd: if one gets lost,
it is unable to find its way back home. Present-day scientific dogma doesn’t know how to measure these forces and therefore they are not part of the current
scientific model of reality. It is said that orange light in the room of the dying helps the awareness-principle to
maintain consciousness so that it would not miss the Clear Light of
the first stage of the bardo.

  2. You actually make it seem really easy along with your presentation but I in finding this topic to be
actually something that I feel I might never understand.
It sort of feels too complex and extremely vast for me.
I’m having a look ahead for your next publish, I’ll attempt to get the
    hang of it!
